Branch Meetings

 

Monthly Branch Meetings are usually held on the first Wednesday evening of each month, at 7:00 PM.  Check each month’s Twigs for further details.

WED., OCTOBER 6, 2010 – ILLINOIS COUNTS: HOW TO MAKE OUR LEGISLATURE WORK!  Presented by AAUW-Illinois Legislative Consultant, Paula Johnson Purdue.  7:00 p.m. Glen Ellyn Civic Center *

 

WED., NOVEMBER 3, 2010 – MUSLIM WOMEN IN THE 21ST CENTURY, FROM TOKYO TO SEATTLE.  Presented by Elmhurst AAUW Branch member, Dr. Azra Haque, who came to the U.S. from Pakistan over 40 years ago.  Azra is a Chicago clinical pathologist and is affiliated with the Villa Park Islamic Foundation.  7:00 p.m. Glen Ellyn Civic Center *

 

MON., DECEMBER 6, 2010 – ANNUAL HOLIDAY DINNER.  Program will be presented by a recent AAUW Fellowship recipient.  6:00 p.m. Klein Creek Golf Club, 1N333 Pleasant Hill Road, Winfield

 

WED., JANUARY 5, 2011 – ORPHAN BOYS OF GHANA FIND A FAMILY HOME.  Presented by Claire Fischer, Glen Ellyn college student (and daughter of Branch member, Jenny Fischer).  Claire will speak to us about her recent experiences working in Ghana.  7:00 p.m. Glen Ellyn Civic Center *

 

WED., FEBRUARY 2, 2011 – CHICAGO’S BLACK METROPOLIS:  THE PRODUCTION OF A DOCUMENTARY.  Presented by WTTW Producer, Barbara E. Allen.  Barbara will be introduced by Branch member, Glennette Turner, who was featured in the documentary.  7:00 p.m. Glen Ellyn Civic Center *

 

WED., MARCH 2, 2011 – WOMEN IN SCIENCE.  WHY SO FEW? Presented by Ruth Sweetser, IIT Director, Professional Learning and Business Relations, Graduate College and former AAUW national President.  7:00 p.m. Glen Ellyn Civic Center *

 

WED., APRIL 6, 2011 – MY LIFE IN INDIA.  Presented by Branch member, Laura Desmarais.  Laura will share with us her recent experiences living in India during her husband’s corporate re-assignment.  7:00 p.m. Glen Ellyn Civic Center *

JANUARY 29, 2011 – ATRÉVETE A SONAR ˇEDUCATE!

The “Dare to Dream” conference which will be held at Elmhurst College is a one-day program for middle school Latina girls and their mothers and/or mentors.
